Creative In Person Marketing Idea: Covid Style
This year has been anything but what people were expecting. Due to the pandemic, artists are no longer allowed to connect with their fans through live shows and concerts in regard to public safety. However, our current situation doesn’t stop them from releasing new music, connecting with fans, or promoting their new projects. In fact, the pandemic has allowed music artists from all over to get creative with how they connect with their fans. One artist in particular, G-Eazy, took advantage of this opportunity using creative marketing strategies that allowed him to engage with his fans and supporters in a unique and unforgettable way.
With the release of his new single “Down” with rising female rapper Mulatto, G-Eazy’s marketing team decided to hand out free gelato to fans over Labor Day weekend while using the moniker “G-LATTO.” This moniker was created by fans on Instagram who were excited about the collaboration. The truck had the name of the new single and the artists in a bright pink font. It was a perfect attraction for a holiday weekend. Over the course of four days there was a “G-LATTO” truck driving around passing out free dessert in Atlanta, Miami, Los Angeles, and San Francisco.
Overall, the safety of this marketing stunt was impressive. Masks were worn at all times while in the truck and the gelato was individually scooped for each person. The hot weather and ice cold gelato was the perfect combination for a holiday weekend. The pandemic is challenging people to think outside the box and try new marketing strategies. One thing is for sure, it is possible to safely promote new music and this is a perfect example!
