What We Can All Do To Help

The last few weeks have been crucial in the fight against racial injustice. The music industry took quick action to address this important issue and has entered a new chapter of transformational change. As JV Agency's mission is to bridge cultural and geographic divides between makers and users, we proudly stand with the rest of the music industry to make our collective voices heard in the fight for racial justice. We recognize this is just the beginning and we are committed to the long-term work required to drive systemic change. We have compiled a list of resources and actions that we can all do to help:

  1. Donate
Commit to financially supporting a local organization doing social justice work in your community. Some of the bigger organizations you can donate to are:
    - Black Lives Matter (https://blacklivesmatter.com)
    - Fair Fight (https://fairfight.com)
    - Equal Justice Initiative (https://eji.org)
    - NAACP Legal Defense Fund (https://www.naacpldf.org/about-us/)
    - Color of Change (https://colorofchange.org)
    - Black Visions Collective (https://www.blackvisionsmn.org)

  2. Sign Petitions
There’s strength in numbers, and it's vital that petitions against racial injustice have as many signatures as possible. Here’s a list of petitions you can sign: https://blacklivesmatters.carrd.co/#petitions

  3. Support Black Creators
Support and promote black creators and black-owned businesses. Amplify their voices. June has been Black Music Month since 1979, and serves as a reminder for what the black community has done for us. It’s the perfect opportunity to listen to, share and promote your favorite black creators in music.

  4. Educate and Learn
Racial justice starts with each and every one of us. Below are some key resources and readings to help us all get started on this learning journey:

    1. Video Resource: Systemic Racism Explained

    2. 10 Things Allies Can Do by Alejandra Castillo of YWCA

    3. It’s Time for Change in the US w/James Corden

    4. White Fragility by Robin Diangelo

    5. Between the World and Me by Ta-Nehisi Coates
